Tool # 5 Social Bookmarking

www.teachscienceandmath.com/...using-interactive-white-boards

The above is a web-site that I found on Diigo through tagging or labeling which allows one to collect and remember or bookmark a useful tool to use in teaching. This will give me some good tips on using my ActivBoard for lessons in Math and Science.

funschool.kaboose.com/...index.html

I also found the above web-site through Diigo that has fun activities for students in Math, Science, Social Studies and other areas.

Using social bookmarking can help me access the web-sites I need for teaching from any computer in my classroom.

Tool #4 Google Docs

I created a spreadsheet to use on the first day of school as I'm checking in my students on Google Docs. I shared it with one of my teammates and it was a simple way to create a spreadsheet and we can each edit it as we perceive the need.

Google Reader- I am currently following the following blogs in Google Reader:
iluv@teach
Mimi the blogger
RGE davisi
Happy teaching
Moni-k's Musings
First Grade Technology
21 Century Technology

I will receive any new posting through Google Reader that the above bloggers add to their blogs.
This is very neat.

Tool #3

I used spelling with the Flickr web-site to create my name in a design and I used the wordle web-site to create a wordle word cloud of fraction terminology. It was fun and I think my students would enjoy using this in centers to learn various sight words and get excited and motivated about them.

Credit for my image mashups goes to the following:

Tool #2

I think that the idea of building a community of online educators in a PLN(personal learning net- work) is an excellent way to connect with other teachers to compare ideas and resources for our students. We have to be proactive in teaching our first graders to interact with their peers in a secure manner and alert them to the pitfalls of the internet.

The point that stood out for me was making meaningful comments in a contructive, respectful and positive manner, not just saying that you liked something but why you like it and how it can be of use in the classroom.

I chose to follow the following blogs:

iluv2teach
Mimi the blogger
RGEdavisi
Happy Teaching
Moni-k's Musings
First Grade Technology
21 Century Technology

Tool Number 1

Now that summer school is almost over I will have more time for blogging. I'm excited that I've created this blog and managed to create an Avatar on the Voki site. It was fun creating my first Avatar and then editing it to another. The students will have a blast coming up with their own Avatars. It's exactly a tool that can exite them in the learning process.
